Fury Warrior

Melee DPS

Bloodthirst and Flurry: the dual-wield Warrior, and the one the lists rank above Arms.

Verified 2026-10-01
Build 1.60.1.70124

Death Wish and Piercing Howl (7/44/0)

ProjectionTheory

Bloodthirst, Death Wish, Piercing Howl, Iron Will and Improved Intercept. Arms is only max Deflection and Improved Overpower, which is legal because Deflection’s five points open the row. You are the disruptor, not the flag carrier.

Stat priority

  1. Stamina
  2. Hit
  3. Crit
  4. Strength
  5. Agility

Precision in this split is only two points, 2% hit. Stamina keeps Death Wish from killing you. Strength is Attack Power. Do not chase a hit cap nobody has published.

Best race

Human
Alliance
Human
Runner-up: Gnome

Will to Survive removes stuns, which is the Death Wish killer. Sword Specialization is 2% crit if you are on swords. Perception finds the Rogue on your healer.

  • The Human Spirit
  • Perception
  • Will to Survive
Orc

Orc
Runner-up: Tauren

Icy Veins picks Orc for Fury: Blood Fury is 10% Attack Power for 15 seconds, Hardiness cuts stuns by 20%, and that lines up with Death Wish. Axe Specialization is 1% crit on axes.

  • Blood Fury
  • Hardiness
  • Axe Specialization
  • Shatter Curse

One-handers from the R14 arsenal, not the two-hander. Dual Wield Specialization is the reason. The R2 Insignia is mandatory before any weapon. Rank rewards are datamined beta numbers and may change. Rare PvP gear is not rank-locked but needs level 55; Elite pieces are Emboldened Seal upgrades. R2 Insignia trinket (3,500 Honor, 2,000 more for the epic version) is the stun break. R3 Faction Cloak is 10 Arathi Basin Marks plus 3,000 Honor. Elite wrists and waist are R8, boots R9, gloves R10, legs and shoulders R12, chest and helm R13. R14 unlocks the weapon arsenal. The R7 Battle Standard is a 15% max-health aura on a 10-minute cooldown — carry it if you anchor a node or a flag team.

How to play it

  • Charge or Intercept, Hamstring, Piercing Howl if the team is stacked. Bloodthirst on cooldown for the damage and the 10% speed.
  • Death Wish when you have a healer and a target, not when you are alone on the road. You take 5% more damage.
  • Improved Berserker Rage to clear a root and get 10 Rage back.
  • Iron Will is 15% shorter stuns, and it is in the Fury tree on this client. Take it. Do not wait for the Arms move Blizzard described and has not shipped.
  • You do not have Mortal Strike. Call the Arms warrior for the healing cut. You bring the slow and the burst.

Verdict

Fury is the dual-wield damage spec. Bloodthirst hits for 35% of Attack Power plus 30 and grants 10% movement speed for 10 seconds. Blizzard removed the heal. Death Wish is 20% physical damage and fear immunity for 30 seconds, and you take 5% more damage while it is up. Flurry is 25% attack speed for three swings after a crit. Enrage is 10% physical damage for 12 seconds after you take any hit, at a 30% chance.

Blizzard’s Sep-30 deep dive says Iron Will moved to Arms. The vendored client, build 1.60.1.70009, still has Iron Will in Fury. This file follows the client. If a later build moves it, the PvP split changes. The same note says Rage from damage dealt is fully normalized by weapon speed, crits give 75% more Rage, and Rage bugs are still open in the beta.

wowforever.co puts Fury at A on MMOExp and Overgear and at C on the forum list, above Arms on both seller lists. Icy Veins’ Fury page, updated Sep 27, is a level-20 guide: Cruelty, Unbridled Wrath, then Piercing Howl. It calls Warrior leveling slow and weapon-dependent. That is the start of this leveling order.

Play Fury for dungeon and raid damage if you can feed it Rage. Play Arms if you need Mortal Strike’s healing cut. Play Protection if you are the tank. The 51-point builds are projections past the beta cap.

Strengths

  • Death Wish plus Bloodthirst is the burst, and Bloodthirst’s 10% movement speed is a reconnect, not a heal.
  • Dual Wield Specialization is 25% off-hand damage, double off-hand Rage, and 10% off-hand hit. That is why Fury dual-wields.
  • Piercing Howl is a 50% slow on every nearby enemy for 6 seconds. Icy Veins takes it as the 11th point for a reason.
  • Improved Berserker Rage generates 10 Rage and clears movement impairs. That is the root-break Arms does not have in this tree.

Weaknesses

  • Blizzard is still chasing Rage bugs, and Rage from damage is now normalized. A slow weapon no longer prints Rage the old way.
  • Death Wish increases damage taken by 5%. Pop it into a stun and you die faster.
  • Icy Veins: bad at fighting two mobs early, no in-combat escape besides Hamstring, and Victory Rush does not exist until 20.
  • No healing reduction. A free-casting healer wins the long battleground fight.
