Shatter CurseInstant, 3 min cooldown. Instantly removes and grants immunity to all Curses and Banes, and reduces all Magical damage taken by 15% for 8 sec.
How to play it
- Sinister Strike, never pool energy. Eviscerate at 4 or 5. Slice and Dice only if the mob will live.
- Remorseless Attacks after each kill. Pull immediately.
- Sprint through camps you are not clearing. Improved Sprint arrives late in the order; until then a root still stops you.
- Blade Flurry the moment the order grants it. That is when Combat starts killing packs instead of singles.
- First Aid. You have no heal.
Verdict
Combat is the weapon spec. Hack and Slash changes with the weapon: swords and axes have a 5% chance of an extra attack, daggers and fists gain 5% crit, maces ignore 15% armor. Dual Wield Specialization is 25% off-hand damage. Adrenaline Rush doubles energy regeneration for 15 seconds. Blade Flurry is 20% attack speed and a cleave for 15 seconds.
Icy Veins’ Assassination page says the three Rogue specs are hard to tell apart at level 20, and that Rogue damage is high either way. The split shows up once Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush exist. wowforever.co puts Combat at B on MMOExp and Overgear and at F on the Sep-16 forum list. Treat it as the AoE and uptime spec, not the proven raid winner.
Riposte requires Deflection at max rank. Both Combat builds in this file pay that tax, because a disarm on parry is the battleground button and a free hit in dungeons.
Play Combat if your best weapons are swords or axes and the content is trash-heavy. Play Assassination if you have daggers and a boss that stands still. Level-60 points are a projection.
Strengths
- Blade Flurry plus Adrenaline Rush is the only Rogue package that cleaves and refunds energy at the same time.
- Hack and Slash means you do not respec when the weapon type changes. You change the bonus, not the build.
- Improved Sprint removes movement impairs when you Sprint. Endurance cuts Sprint and Evasion cooldowns by up to 60%.
- Weapon Expertise is 2% less chance to be dodged or parried. That is uptime, not a stat-weight guess.
Weaknesses
- No Mortal Strike equivalent. You do not cut healing. A healer who is free-casting outlasts you.
- The forum list puts Combat at the bottom. Two seller lists put it at B. Neither has a raid test.
- Riposte locks three points of Deflection. Those points are not damage.
- Icy Veins: early Rogue has Sprint and not much else for mobility. Combat does not fix the lack of a travel form.
